Where to Watch the Sunset in Phuket: The Top 6 Sunset Viewpoints

The Top 6 Viewpoints for Watching the Sunset in Phuket

After a painfully difficult day enjoying Phuket’s beaches (kidding), you’ll want to make your way over to an incredible viewpoint to watch the sunset in Phuket! It’s a marvelous place that is blessed by the gods with scorching weather, white sand beaches and countless spots to stand tall and take in the view. As the sun disappears into the night, you’ll want to soak it all in before a wild night down Bangla Road!

Wassa Homemade Bar

Wassa Homemade Bar is easily our favorite place to watch the sunset in Phuket, with its massive deck overlooking the bay and cool breezes to keep you from sweating your ass off! Let the cocktails flow alongside an impressive Thai menu served tapas-style. Unlike the sky bars in Bangkok, Wassa is a very chill, laid-back environment where you can meet and hang out with other backpackers. The easiest way to get there is hopping in the back of a Songthaew truck since it’s a steep uphill walk. On the other hand, a little sweat on the way will definitely make those cocktails just that much more enjoyable!

Hours of Operation: 4PM to 12PM, Daily

Karon Viewpoint

Karon Viewpoint is a must for anyone visiting Phuket, yet backpackers often skip it. Why? We have no fucking clue, but they’re missing out! As the name suggests, Karon Viewpoint is nearby Karon Beach so it’s a great choice to cap out a day of sunbathing and being a beach bum in general. It can get quite crowded and hard to get those ‘Gram-worthy shots, especially compared to our next choice for watching the sunset in Phuket: good old Big Buddha!

Hours of Operation: Always

Address: 4233 Tambon Karon, Amphoe Mueang Phuket, Chang Wat 83100

Big Buddha Phuket

Glistening white marble, towering high enough to give you whiplash. The Big Buddha of Phuket is absolutely stunning on its own but gives an air of mystique during the sunset. Words don’t do it justice, you’ll just have to see for yourself in person. White marble literally glows at dusk and dawn!

Hours of Operation: Any time you want to go, it’s there!

Address: Soi Muang Phuket, Tambon Karon, Amphoe Mueang, Chang Wat 83100

360 Degree Rooftop Sky Bar

Strap on your fanciest tank top in true backpacker fashion and you’ll blend right in at 360 Degrees Bar. To be blunt, it’s a bit more upscale than our other choices on this list, so cocktails aren’t cheap. But are you going to be drinking there all night? Nope. You’re here to see the fucking sunset, have a drink or 2 and head right back to Bodega for the start of a wild Phuket pub crawl night!

Hours of Operation: 4PM to 12PM, Daily

Address: 31/1 Moo 6, Cherngtalay, Thalang 83110

Baba Nest Rooftop

Absolute beauty. That’s the best way to describe Baba Nest! Just look at the photo below and that’s all you really need to know about Baba, honestly. The only thing to note is that it packs up quick, so you’ll want to arrive well before sunset to secure yourself a table.

Hours of Operation: 5PM to 9PM, Daily

Address: 88/5 Moo. 8, Sakdidej Road, Tambon Vichit, Mueang Phuket

Promthep Cape (Laem Promthep)

The best place to watch the sunset in Phuket for those with nature at their soul. At your feet sits a wavy coastline deckered with boulders that usher in relaxing sounds that rival any bedtime melodies app. The last time I saw the sunset here, I damn near fell asleep myself! Bring a camera or at least make sure your phone is charged up enough to bring home memories that will last a lifetime. Just be careful of the local monkeys! They may seem playful and innocent but they’ll steal your shit (including your camera)!

Hours of Operation: Always

Address: Rawai Viewpoint, 4233 Highway, Mueang Phuket
