How to Get to Koh Rong Samloem: Cambodia’s Best Kept Secret

How to Get to Koh Rong Samloem

Getting to the island of Koh Rong Samloem isn’t all that hard but boy is it worth the trouble. This beautiful island paradise is a jewel in the Andaman Sea and one of those places that’ll stay a firm favourite in your travelling memories. Most importantly? It’s where our Bodega’s first hostel in Cambodia is.

There really aren’t many tourism setups on the island, so it’s a real place where you can connect with the locals and disconnect from the manic tourist hotspots that are relatively nearby. That said, don’t think that this Bodega doesn’t bring the party. We’re talking 24/7 bar baby! Outside the hostel, the main attraction of the island is the beach of the same name Samloem. This is a truly beautiful white sand, turquoise water, palm lined classic SEA beach.

Transportation to Koh Rong Samloem

So, now that we’ve sold the island to you, it’s time to work out how to get there. The main routes to the island leave from Sihanoukville. The good news about this? That’s only 7km away from the Bodega Beach Club and Resort and only 22km away from Sihanoukville International Airport.

You’ll only be able to get to the party hostel by boat. We highly recommend using Buva Sea Cambodia. Not least because they’re the only company that are offering a direct service to our beach, but also because they’re decent. If you’re coming from the nearby Koh Rong rather than the mainland, or just using a different boat company that isn’t direct, then we can provide a complimentary free transfer from Saracen Bay.

Buva Sea Cambodia Details

In order to transfer from Sihanoukville, you’ll need to head for Serendipity Pier (within the city). There are four different transfer time, each within 3 hours of each other at 0800, 1100, 1400 & 1700. Obviously you’re still in Cambodia, so don’t necessarily expect anything to leave on time, but don’t be late either!

If you want to book tickets then drop by Buca Sea Cambodia’s booking office at 502 Serendipity Street. You’ll spot it when you walk away from Golden Lions roundabout towards the pier, it’ll be on the left hand side.

Arriving from Koh Rong into Saracen Bay

For those of you who are coming from Koh Rong, or have opted for a different boat company from Sihanoukville, you’ll be needing our transfer service. Did we mention that it’s complimentary? We’re good like that here at Bodega. We want you to arrive with us promptly, ready for that first shotgun.

From Saracen Bay, head towards Orchid Pier where you’ll be able to spot the Bodega long tail boat. The boats leave at 10:30, 13:30, 16:30 & 17:30 daily. If you’ve got any questions then don’t hesitate to drop us a message and we’ll help you out!
