Party Time: The Best LGBT and Gay Clubs in Bangkok

LGBT Friendly: Bangkok’s Best Gay Clubs

The LGBT and gay clubs of Thailand’s capital are loud, proud and going from strength to strength.

Bangkok is a party town. Clubs and bars rock from dusk till dawn, and the buzzing LGBT scene is a mecca for party-goers from around the globe. Whether you fancy a cocktail in an upscale bar or a shot race in a back to basics throw-down, there’s something for everyone in the capital’s LGBT club scene. Here’s our pick of the best.

The Stranger Bar – High Class Entertainment

The Stranger is a Bangkok institution. This two-story bar has a great range of cocktails served by friendly, lively staff and the atmosphere is modern and inclusive. Expect dance and electronica from the DJ and one of the best drag shows in town. If you like an upmarket New York-type vibe then you’ll love it here- the prices are reasonable and there’s a daily happy hour from 9pm. Located in the LGBT nightlife epicenter of Soi 4 in Silom, it’s the ideal place to kick off a big night out.

Hours of Operation: 17:30 pm – 02:00 am daily

Fake Club: A Reimagined Classic

The Fake Club was The Place to go out in Bangkok in the 1990’s, until the original venue closed down. Luckily for modern-day clubbers, this reincarnation has all of the fun in a much better quality of venue! The huge dance floor boasts pumping dance music and neon signs grace every corner of this pleasure palace. The crowd is eclectic and the entertainment program ever-changing. Come here for disco balls, flashy lighting and the occasional topless male dance show.

Hours of Operation: 9:00pm – 3:00am daily

Location: 222/32 Ratchadaphisek Rd, Khet Huai Khwang, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, Bangkok 10310

DJ Station: The Popular Choice

Ever want to lose yourself on a packed dance floor that’s so crammed with happy clubbers that you can hardly breathe? Well the DJ Station is right up your street! Long a favorite with the local LGBT community, this is the biggest gay nightclub in Bangkok and it draws in the crowd night after night. The small ‘sois’ within the club play host to different themes of venue- disco, dance, chill out and a live stage. The entrance fee is 300 baht which that includes 2 drinks, and there are drag shows on the main stage at 11pm and midnight. Embrace the crowds and you’ll come to love this place.

Hours of Operation: 10:00 pm – 2:00 am daily

Location: Silo Soi 2, Suriya Wong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500

White Rabbit Lounge Bar: Laidback Cool

If you need a break from the super-clubs then the White Rabbit Lounge Bar should be at the top of your list. This LGBT-friendly spot is a great place to relax with a cold Chang and meet the local crowd. There are power sockets for digital nomads who want to put in a few hours on their laptops, and an extensive cocktail list for when the working day is done. It’s Silom location means it’s a meeting point before exploring the surrounding Sois.

Hours of Operation: 15:00 pm – 1:00 am daily

Location: 12/3 Thanon Silom Rd, Suriya Wong, Bangkok 10500

Telephone Pub: Novelty Fun

The Telephone Pub is over 30 years old and takes its name from the telephones that used to connect the tables to each other. Sadly, these days the phones have gone but the fun still remains, with a karaoke room on the third floor and a terrace out front which is a great place to make new friends and mingle. There’s a party room available for hire and the restaurant is highly recommended for Thai and Western food. A deservedly popular part of the Bangkok gay scene.

Hours of Operation: 18:00 pm – 2:00 am

Location: 114, 11-13 Silom 4, Surita Wong, Khet Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500
