The Best Cafes in Siem Reap for Khmer Coffee Lovers

The Best Cafes in Siem Reap Combine Culture With Great Food and Drink

Visiting some of the top cafes in Siem Reap is a great way to wind down after a hard days sightseeing in Angkor Wat. When your feet are aching and your camera battery has run out of charge there’s nothing better than a good coffee, some tasty snacks and a comfy seat to watch the world go by. Here’s our pick of the best places in town.

The Hive

What started out as a small Aussie-Cambodian venture in 2013 has turned into one of a major traveler’s institution. Having joint nationalities running the place means that it does everything well, from Cambodian breads and snacks to western milkshakes and an impressive vegan offering. It’s big and bright with air-conditioned seating across two floors and the prices are pretty reasonable. A coffee will run to around $2.

The Little Red Fox Espresso

If your priority in choosing a cafe in Siem Reap is the quality of the coffee then head straight to the front of the queue and check out the Little Red Fox Espresso. The coffee here is hot, strong, well-made and although a cup can cost slightly more than in other places, it’s well worth it. The décor is laidback and comfortable with a nice balcony on the upper floor and plenty of sofas where you can relax and enjoy your drink. Highly recommended.

Cafes Siem Reap

The Tribe

Our next pick is more than just a café, it’s also a Siem Reap art gallery and cultural center. The Tribe serves up good coffee and tasty cakes and snacks while also displaying a range of art from local producers, and the knowledgeable owners are more than happy to talk you through what they’ve got on the walls. This is a great way to get to see a bit of modern-day Cambodian cultural heritage without having to march through a formal gallery or museum! A coffee costs around $2.50 so it’s an affordable and enjoyable experience.

Sister Srey

Feel-good coffee time next! 6 Sister Srey lets you feel good about yourself as you sip your latte, with a proportion of the café’s profits being donated to local charities that focus on improving the lives of young people in the area. This isn’t just a charity case made to look like a café however; the décor is funky, the menu is varied and modern and the food comes highly recommended. Try one of the homemade cakes that are produced on-site for a real treat.

Crane

Another place that makes you feel like you’re enjoying more than just a drink and a snack, Crane offers up art on the walls, fashion pieces dotted around the premises and a ton of unusual and stylish furniture and décor that you won’t find anywhere else in town. Their menu is pretty standard so you can expect reasonable coffee, cakes, brownies, sandwiches and snacks, but it’s really the atmosphere that keeps the punters coming. The only drawback is the lack of aircon but just order an iced coffee and cool down that way!
