This sleek and well designed coffee shop is loved by locals and tourists alike. Famous for some of the best iced coffees in the city, it’s open throughout the day and late into the night. Tanamera
If you’re looking for traditional Indonesian coffee in a traditional setting then this is the cafe in Jakarta for you. Mingle with the local population who periodically set up shop here for hours at a time. And you can’t blame them. The locally sourced beans are roasted to perfection, typically from Sumatra, Sulawesi or from Java itself. Not only is this a great coffee shop but also part of the coffee tradition itself. It is so respected that Tanamera puts on regular workshops for those looking to become baristas, or just those who are coffee obsessed.

Anomali
Another of the old hats in Jakarta with beans sourced from all of the islands of Indonesia. Anomali has plenty of branches (7 at last count), you’re in good hands here. You’ll be able to try some of the more famous beans (at a premium) such as the controversial Luwak beans. Lovely locations, relaxed and welcoming, many with power points welcoming students and digital nomads alike.

Bakoel Koffie
Serving coffee to the local population for nearly 150 years (opened in 1870), this coffee shop has claim to be one of the oldest cafes in Jakarta. Still within the family, and now the 4th generation, Bakoel Koffie has attempted to retain an authentic vintage feel. No longer just serving endless cups of coffee, there are also some great cakes and unusual soft drinks.
