About Café
This is a great place to head if you fancy a bit of art alongside your food. About Café prides itself on offering more than just a meal; they also add funky designs to the top of your coffee and the whole place is packed full of unusual objects and interesting décor. The owner, Mr Koi, is an artist himself and his eye for detail has turned About into a destination, not just somewhere to eat. That being said, the menu is extensive and the prices good so it’s the best of both worlds!

Boulangerie Patisserie de Samui
Every now again the craving for some fresh, crusty bread takes over but don’t worry, Boulangerie Patisserie de Samui is there for you. Serving up traditional French bread and patisserie, this is as close to Paris as you’ll get on the island. A croissant is only 35 baht ($1) and a full French breakfast featuring a crusty baguette, croissants, butter, jam, juice and coffee will only set you back 150 ($4.50). The atmosphere is chilled and the staff are friendly. Highly recommended.

Tanya’s Cafe
In our view, Tanya’s is the best café for breakfast in Koh Samui. The menu boasts an eclectic range of pancakes, sandwiches, breakfast plates and homemade cakes and all their ice cream is local produced. The cappuccinos receive particularly high praise, and at 80 baht ($2.50) they’re worth it. If you’ve got a hangover then their restorative juices might be just what you need!

Coffee Gecko
Our last pick is a café with a view. Coffee Gecko is located right on Bophut Beach, so you can sip your coffee with your toes in the sand. On a clear day you can see Koh Phangan across the water, and the sunsets are to die for! The menu is pretty standard with a good choice of hot and cold drinks and snacks to choose from, but unusually German beer also makes an appearance so it’s a destination bar for weissbier lovers from the local area! Come for the coffee and stay for the views.
