Beers in the Bay: The Best Bars on Koh Phi Phi
You’ve seen the legendary Maya Bay and enjoyed pretending to be Leonardo in The Beach. You’ve marvelled at the white sands and turquoise waters. Now it’s time for a drink but where are the best bars on Koh Phi Phi?
As you might well expect Koh Phi Phi is the epitome of relaxed beach vibes. Think cushions on the floor, the gentle lapping of waves and tiki torches. If you’re after a bit of relaxation then you’ve come to the right place. That said, it’s not all lounging about. Looking for a party? Phi Phi has a wild side to explore too and the buckets aren’t in short supply!
Sun Flower Beach Bar & Restaurant
Bamboo huts and thatched roofs set the tone of this place. Seating ranges from sun loungers and hammocks to mats and tables so you won’t be wanting for a nice spot to relax. The place has a great view of Loh Dalum bay and does its best to provide a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere. The food is brilliant, the evening fire shows and acoustic bands are even better.
Opening Hours: 09:00 – 02:00
Location: Viewpoint end of Loh Dalum Beach (northern side)

Carlito’s Beach Bar
One of the oldest surviving bars on Koh Phi Phi, this place has seen it all from the early days of Phi Phi tourism. Set across two venues with a path splitting them, there are two sides to this place. Not only is it a great afternoon relaxation spot where you can practice with poi, join yoga or play board games, there’s also an open-air disco. As the evening gets later the music gets louder, the drinks get stronger and the party begins. Depending on the night you can expect either a local Thai or international DJ.
Opening Hours: 12:00 – 02:00
Location: On the way out of Tonsai Village towards Tonsai East and Long Beach
Slinky Bar
This is the classic Thai beach party bar. Dancing? Check! Mechanical bull? Sure! Face and body painting? Obviously! Fire shows, skipping and limbo? No doubt! Drinks are cheap and cheerful and come by the bucketload, literally. It has a sophisticated and up-to-date sound system that pumps out the latest European dance tunes. It maintains traditional Thai décor, except for the risqué sand sculptures throughout. Go along, you’ll see what we mean… Special events are put on for full, half and black moon parties.
Opening Hours: 16:00 – Late
Location: Central Loh Dalum Beach

Stockholm Syndrome
Feeling competitive and confident? This is the bar to come to when you want to flex your beer pong throwing arms. Tables are set up and ready for your use alongside pool tables too. There’s also a small dancefloor that often spills outside the doors. When you need a break there’s a small, relaxed lounge up on the second floor. There’s always a party atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. Expect the usual beach front drinks prices.
Opening Hours: 14:00 – late
Location: In the same area as Reggae Bar
Drinking on Phi Phi Insider Tip
Phi Phi can get seriously overcrowded in the high season. Make sure you book your trip in advance and if you really want to soak up the night life you’ll need to look into accommodation. If you want recommendations, contact our staff over at Bodega Phuket before you book your ferry! Nearly all of the bars mentioned above offer accommodation of some sort, just don’t expect to get much sleep!
