For years, the biggest underground club scene in Bangkok was techno and dance. Hip hop had a relatively small showing and clubs were few and far between. Fortunately for those who live their lives in the trap, a real surge in popularity has begun within the Thai capital. Rather than a smattering of underground clubs, more and more regular venues are adopting hip hop nights are even specializing in hip hop.
It all started with Sugar Club back in 2014 and is now growing ever more. Since then, The Firm, Hip-Hop Sushi and Susie Q are launching nights regularly.
This Bangkok institution now has a completely dedicated main room that plays the best in quality hip hop. This wasn’t an easy decision to take for the promoters who used to promote the biggest techno setups in the city. Thanks to their genius social media campaigns and their in-house rap battles, the crowds have grown and grown.
They aim to cover the essential pillars of hip hop: emcees, DJs, bboying and beatboxing. The venue has begun to host more rap battles, bring in rappers and beatboxers. When they first started out, the crowds were mainly Thai kids that would visit the hip-hop nights but more recently, they’re attracting a more international crowd.
This is one of the most established hip-hop night clubs in Bangkok and set right in the heart of the Sukhumvit area down on Soi 11. This makes it easily accessible from other venues and drinking spots nearby, as well as being close to Bodega Bangkok. This dedicated venue has a fantastic sound system and lighting set up.

Illionaire is one of the latest additions to the hip hop club scene in Bangkok. Head for the Park Avenue building on Soi Ekkamai 14. You’ll find a dedicated hip hop lounge that plays host to events that include bartenders dripping with flair and some damn good cocktails. Plus, you can get bottle service for a huge selection of high end spirits and champagne. Grab a bottle, grab some friends and expect an awesome night.

It may well have been around for years by now but the hip hop scene is just beginning to find traction now in Bangkok. Many could argue that the influence of 88Rising has had a huge hand in the evolving hip hop culture of Asia, with artists like Rich C̶h̶i̶g̶g̶a̶ Brian, Higher Brothers and Keith Ape.
