Sand and Sangsom: The Best Beach Clubs in Phuket for a Cocktail or 2
Who Needs Ibiza Anyway? The Best Beach Clubs in Phuket
Phuket means party! This beautiful peninsula ringed with golden sand beaches has a nightlife scene that deserves a shout out. The best beach clubs in Phuket are armed with tasty cocktails and a sunset view that’ll be the highlight of your backpacking trip through Thailand!
Travelers from all over the world come to Phuket to enjoy the intoxicating combination of sun-soaked beaches, beautiful temples and throbbing nightlife. While Bangla Road in Patong is the focal point for revelers looking for a rowdy night of shots and shows, Phuket has a lot more to offer the discerning drinker in search of a high-class night out.
The coastline of the peninsula is dotted with beach clubs offering everything from live dance shows to cocktail-making demos.
You probably know the Café del Mar brand- sophisticated, polished and with a price tag to match. This beautiful beach club is located at the north end of Kamala beach and boasts world-class DJs and an extensive cocktail list. This is the place to see and be seen in Phuket, so dress your best if you’re heading here or you might not be let in! The club has a resident saxophonist who plays chilled-out background tunes that are a perfect accompaniment to watching the sun set. A splurge that’s well worth it!
Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 02:00 AM daily
Location: 118/119 Moo 3, Kamala Beach. Next to HQ Beach Club
Phone: 081 188 1230
This next club is also a foreign import, but this time it’s an American brand. Dream has its’ origins in New York City but has landed in Phuket with a distinctively Thai flavor. Located right on the edge of the sand so you can wander down to the ocean whenever the mood takes you, Dream boasts two swimming pools ringed with dozens of sun loungers, and four different bars. You won’t have to wait for your beer here! The crowd is cosmopolitan and the whole place has a laid-back, party atmosphere.
Opening Hours: 11:00 AM – 00:00 AM daily
Location: Layan Beach Soi 2, Bangtao
Phone: 07 660 9888
If you want to dance the night away then Paradise is the beach club for you. It’s in an isolated spot so making a bit of noise isn’t an issue, and the complex is well-developed with shops, restaurants and multiple bars all on site. If you can’t make it down to Koh Phangan for a Full Moon Party then this is the next best thing! Don’t come here if you want a quiet cocktail as you contemplate life; come here to meet a fun crowd who usually keep going till dawn.
Opening Hours: 09:30 AM – Late – normally dawn
Location: At the end of the headland south of Patong
Phone: 07 660 9609
Our next choice is the exact opposite of Paradise Beach! Iguana is a tiny, exclusive beach club nestled into the tiny Iguana Bay on the south west of the peninsula. At the weekend this place kicks off with parties into the small hours, and the espresso martini cocktails get rave reviews if you need that extra burst of energy to get through the night. This is a good place to come in the afternoon for some beach-based sunbathing before launching into the evening’s festivities.
Opening Hours: 11:00 AM – 00:00 AM (or later if the DJ chooses!)
Location: Northern end of Kalim Beach
Phone: 081 415 1615
Our last pick is technically the beach-side bar for the Centara Grand Beach Resort, but we’ve included it anyway because it’s one of our favorites. The food is amazing so come for dinner before you get stuck into the cocktail list; every night sees a different special on the menu but we always aim for Wednesdays to enjoy fresh lobster for just 880 baht ($27 USD). Check the club’s website for info on events like pool parties to really make the most of the atmosphere here.
Opening Hours: 11:00 AM – 23:00 PM daily
Location: Centara Grand Beach Resort, Karon
Phone: 07 620 1234
Every Beach Club in Phuket is Worth Your Time
We’ve tried to cram as many of our favorites into this list as we could, but only you can pick the best for you! We recommend that you try them all out, just to be sure. Maybe twice each. You’re on holiday after all!
